Oxleas Woods

Drawing of  tree’s in Oxleas Woods, on one side of Shooters Hill,  near my home. I discovered these woods when dropping off camera equipment for a film shoot there. It was years later that I moved close to this location, once I visited again on the advice of a friend when looking for a new home. I did not realise it at the time that it was the same woods I had been enchanted by, and was delighted when I went for a walk and discovered the spot I had visited before. It was a lovely déjà vu moment.

Shooters Hill is mentioned in the first page of the Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, where folk ride their coaches from Dover to London afraid of being robbed by the highwaymen hiding in the woods.
